Everything you need to know before your trip with Big Fish Energy
Wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting wet or dirty. Bring sunscreen (reef-safe preferred), sunglasses, a hat, and any snacks or drinks you'd like. We provide all fishing gear, tackle, bait, bottled water, ice, and fishing licenses.
All trips include a USCG licensed captain, all rods, reels, tackle, live and dead bait, fishing licenses for everyone aboard, bottled water, ice, and fish cleaning at the dock.
No! Your fishing license is included in the charter price. Our charter fishing license covers all passengers on the boat, so you're all set.
Our boat comfortably accommodates up to 6 guests. If your group is bigger than that, reach out and we'll see what we can work out, like splitting your group across multiple trips.
Safety is our top priority. If weather conditions are unsafe, we'll work with you to reschedule your trip at no extra charge. Captain Jon monitors conditions closely and will contact you the evening before if there are concerns.
We recommend taking Dramamine or Bonine the night before and morning of your trip. Avoid heavy meals and alcohol beforehand. Inshore trips stay in calmer waters if you're worried. Captain Jon has years of experience keeping everyone comfortable.
Absolutely! We clean and bag your catch at the dock so it's ready to take home or to a local restaurant. Many Destin restaurants will even cook your catch for you. We're happy to recommend our favorites.
It depends on the season and trip type. Our Half-Day Nearshore trip targets amberjack, triggerfish, and snapper on nearby reefs. Offshore trips go after red snapper, mahi-mahi, wahoo, king mackerel, cobia, and amberjack. We fish what's biting!
Yes! We love having families aboard. Our Kids & Family trip is designed specifically for younger anglers (ages 5+) with kid-friendly tackle and calm waters. Captain Jon is patient and great with kids of all ages.
We meet at 12 Miracle Strip Parkway SW, Fort Walton Beach, FL. Morning trips typically depart around sunrise (exact time varies by season). Captain Jon will confirm your meeting time when you book. Plan to arrive 15 minutes early.
We understand plans change. Cancellations made 48+ hours before your trip receive a full refund. Cancellations within 48 hours may be subject to a cancellation fee. Weather cancellations are always free. We'll reschedule at no charge.
Yes! We provide bottled water and a cooler with ice. You're welcome to bring snacks, lunch, and drinks. No glass containers please. Cans and plastic only.
Tipping isn't required, but it's appreciated and customary in the charter industry, similar to a tour guide. A common range is 15-20% of the trip price, split with the mate if one's aboard, more if the crew went above and beyond. Cash is easiest, but you're welcome to ask about other options when you book.
